Ninja Blade Coming Soon on Xbox 360

I came across the trailer for Ninja Blade and I have to confess that I think it looks pretty good (even though the graphics are a little cheesy at times).

The game is set in modern-day Tokyo where parasites have wreaked havoc on the city – these “alpha-worms” are rapidly destroying humans and it’s up to you and your skilled team to save mankind. Before I go any further, I want to commend the game developers for using 3-D mapping to create a replica of Tokyo for this game. My family has lived off and on in Japan for the last 22 years and that aspect of this game makes it even more interesting.

As the name suggests, you are a ninja and, of course, you possess those specialized abilities. You will also have a range of weapons, tools and Ninjutsu including dual wielding swords and grenades. In case you are wondering, “Ninjutsu is a special power that results in an explosive electrical force to either stun enemies or protect oneself from attack. Only true Ninja Masters can achieve this technique.”

Final Fantasy XIII Trailer – English Subtitles

Have you seen this new trailer for Final Fantasy XIII. It looks pretty good so far. It doesn’t have a firm release date but it is expected to come out some time this year. As such, there aren’t a lot of details available about the game but it is a big deal that it’s coming to Xbox 360. I’m hoping that it stays true to delivering the excellent storylines that have been associated with most of the earlier FF games.

Get Free Foot Pedal with Pre-order of Guitar Hero Metallica

I was over on Metal Martyr and I spotted a post about a promotional deal on Gamestop.com and I thought you might be interested.

Right now, if you pre-order Guitar Hero: Metallica, you will receive a free bonus foot pedal which would allow you to play double bass. The deal also includes a splitter which will allow you to use two pedals simultaneously with the drum kit. How cool is that?

Like Scott from Metal Martyr, I was not impressed some features on Guitar Hero: World Tour so I’m really hoping his Metallica version is good.

Skate 2 Available Today on Xbox 360

Skate 2 is the continuation of, you guessed it – Skate (2007). Even though it’s been less than two years in the real world, five years are supposed to have passed in the game. San Vanelona was destroyed after “the disaster-too-gnarly-to-be-named." Mongocorp (some made-up company) is building “New San Vanelona” but before you get too excited, they’ve pretty much killed the skate population by being overprotective with their private property.

Guess what your role is going to be? You’ve got to find a way to revive New San Van by rebuilding your career which shouldn’t be too hard considering you’ll now have double the tricks and the ability to actually move stuff around and build your own ramps and sick lines. You’ll have New San Van rockin’ in no time!

Something else that I think is cool is that you can create your own graphics and personalize your board, decks and clothing.

Order X-Blades on Xbox 360, Get Free Shirt

X-Blades comes out on Xbox 360 on February 10, 2009 but if you pre-order a copy through GameStop.com, you will get a free X-Blades T-shirt. If you order online, it will be shipped with your game but if you go in person, the shirt will be available when you pick up your game.

The game, itself, is not really my thing and the trailer does nothing to really change that but I think fans of the genre might really enjoy it. It’s just a little too… Sailor Moon for my taste (?)…

The Lord of the Rings: Conquest on Xbox 360

Return to Middle-earth in The Lord of the Rings: Conquest where, as a player, you can choose whether you will serve good or evil.

The game has a lot to offer allowing players to choose from eight epic battles from the films as the hero or nine campaigns for the evil side. Wow! You will get to answer the question: "What if Sauron stopped Frodo from destroying the One Ring?" As a fan of the trilogy, I’ve always thought about that so I’m looking forward to trying to solve that mystery through gameplay.

Some of the other game features include the ability to make the characters perform a melee and ranged combat. There are specialty classes too (including Mages and Scouts) for the player who wants to hone his or her skills.

The game takes place in familiar locales, allowing games to “jump into epic battles across Pelennor Fields, Helm’s Deep, Minas Tirith, The Black Gate” and, incredibly, “even the Shire.”

The multiplayer action is also cool. You can have up to three friends playing through split-screen action in the same room (competitively or cooperatively) and up to 16 players can connect online.

Ghostbusters Gets a Release Date for Xbox 360

Yahoo is reporting that Ghostbusters: The Video Game has an official release date!!! Sony Pictures is planning to release the game along with the Blu-ray version of the original film on June 16, 2009 (June 19 in Europe). It’s also the 25th anniversary of Ghostbusters – what better way to celebrate?!

I know the movies are corny but I don’t care. I really liked them and it’s hard for me to resist when they come on late-night television.

The game has been written by the original writers and stars of the film, Dan Aykroyd (Ray) and Harold Ramis (Egon) and will feature their voices along with most of the others Bill Murray (Peter), Ernie Hudson (Winston) and Annie Potts (Janice). Rick Moranis (Louis) and Sigourney Weaver declined to participate.

Afro Samurai Coming Soon on Xbox 360

The Afro Samurai video game is based on the Japanese manga series starring Samuel L. Jackson. I’ve seen the show on Spike TV but it’s just never appealed to me, to be honest. I’m not sure I would be a fan of the video game either but I have to admit that the trailer looks interesting.

I love how they captured the animation/drawing style of the original show. I don’t know if Sam Jackson will be lending his voice to the game’s main character but it would be cool if he did.

The Godfather II on Xbox 360 Coming February 2009

In February 2009, The Godfather II, will be released on Xbox 360 and, to be very honest, I’ve got mixed feelings about this. I can understand why so many people would want to play these games but I’m torn between being a gamer and being a movie lover. The Godfather series was a masterpiece by Francis Ford Copolla and I don’t know if I like the idea of them continuing on in video game format. Anyway, in the grand scheme of things, what I think really doesn’t matter since the game is coming and people are going to buy it.

The game takes place on the eve of the Cuban revolution and, after the Don of your family is killed, it’s up to you to take control and reestablish the Corleone name in Queens, New York. You get invited out to South Florida to help support Hyman Roth and when the Senate Committee on Organized Crime starts investigating Michael Corleone, you must run the family with Tom Hagen at your side. In order to succeed, you must be able to strategize like a Don, recruit new family member and, of course, be brutal. You can also take the action online!
