Jerry Lewis Too Sick to Perform

Legend Jerry Lewis was scheduled to perform a sold-out charity concert in Sydney, Australia on Friday but the 85-year-old was too sick to get out of the car and never made it on stage.

The concert was set to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation of Australia. And though the audience was told they could have refunds, they instead choose to allow the charity to keep the proceeds.

The head of the MDF of Australia also released a statement: “We would like to apologise to people who purchased tickets for tonight’s show but in unforseen circumstances, Jerry was not well enough to take the stage. Jerry is in Australia solely to raise awareness of and funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, but understandably his health is the number one priority and this takes precedence. We are very appreciative of those people in attendance tonight who nominated to donate the ticket cost to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation rather than request a refund.”

Lewis was briefly hospitalized but released and back at his hotel. His publicist, Candi Cazau, said Lewish was “just feeling a little under the weather.”

30 Rock Star Tracy Morgan Apologizes for Anti-Gay Rant

In recent days, Tracy Morgan has come under fire for his homophobic rant during an appearance at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on June 3. Some of Morgan’s slurs included:

“Gays need to quit being p**sies and not be whining about something as insignificant as bullying.” and “Gay is something that kids learn from the media and programming.”

About the possibility of having a gay son, Tracy said he “better talk to me like a man and not in a gay voice or I’ll pull out a knife and stab that little n**ger to death.”

After the show, Morgan told the crowd, “I don’t “f*cking care if I piss off some gays, because if they can take a f*cking d**k up their ass…they can take a f*cking joke.”

After his rep initially had declined comment, Morgan issued a statement of apology on Friday where he denied being a hateful person and acknowledged that “even in a comedy club” what he said went too far “and was not funny in any context.”

Dane Cook’s Half Brother Gets 5-6 Years for Embezzlement

Comedian Dane Cook’s half brother, Darryl McCauley plead guilty to embezzlement, three counts of forgery, 27 counts of larceny and other charges and was sentenced to 5-6 years in prison on Wednesday. The former corrections officer will also be on probation for 10 years upon his release. Additionally, he will have to pay restitution to Cook.

McCauley was Cook’s business manager from the early 1990s through 2008. Beginning in 2004, he began to steal millions from Cook. At one point, he even wrote a $3 million check to himself from Cook’s account.

McCauley and Cook share the same mother, Donna Cook, who died in 2006.

Comedian Robert Schimmel Dies

Stand up comic Robert Schimmel died on Friday night in a Phoenix hospital. Schimmel, a Howard Stern Show regular, had been hospitalized on Thursday after an auto accident. Schimmel was a passenger in a car driven by his 19-year-old daughter Aliyah. Aliyah apparently swerved to avoid another car and the vehicle she was driving flipped over multiple times. She is currently hospitalized in stable condition.

The comedian’s death was confirmed on Friday by his brother Jeff Schimmel on Facebook: “ROBERT SCHIMMEL. Son, Brother, Father, Grandfather, Comedian, Generous Man. I have always loved you, admired you, and was proud to be your biggest fan. I will never forget a single moment. R.I.P.”

Robert Schimmel was 60 years old and a resident of Scottsdale. He was a frequent guest on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and penned his memoir in 2008, “Cancer on $5 a Day.” The book chronicles Schimmel’s battle with non-Hodkin’s lymphoma.
