Alex Rodriguez finds himself once again in a controversial situation. According to reports, this controversy involved Alex Rodriguez and illegal poker. The New York Yankees third baseman, who is currently on the disabled list, could reportedly face a suspension.

Major League Baseball is currently investigating to see whether Alex Rodriguez did play in the illegal poker games. Why is it such a big deal? It’s a big deal because Alex Rodriguez has already been warned by commissioner Bud Selig and the Yankees and told to stop playing illegal poker.

The illegal poker games were played in Beverly Hills and featured a number of celebrities including Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire. (Tobey Maguire playing illegal poker has already made headlines.)

The Yankees, their fans and Alex Rodriguez better hope that Major League Baseball can’t prove these allegations. If they do, expect an Alex Rodriguez suspension.

Okay, let me make myself clear. I’m not making fun of Ben Affleck. I love him, actually. And even though he briefly crossed borders into douche bag territory, I think he’s redeemed himself and become cool again.

But this video is vintage Ben Affleck. Back before the douchebaggery of Beniffer, after the uber success of Good Will Hunting and pre-rehab. Ah, you gotta love celebs when they’re tumbling toward rock bottom.

Some may regard this as one of Ben Affleck’s lows, but I think it’s pretty brilliant. Watch his attempts at the timeless art of seduction and the awkward squirms and giggles of the very uncomfortable French Canadian Reporter, Anne Marie Losique.

Fucking Ben Affleck Better than the Oscars

Sure, we’re all laughing our asses off as Hollywood celebs adopt YouTube collab and response formulae to sing about Jimmy Kimmel fucking Ben Affleck. Andrew Wallenstein, however, points out that the star power of this sketch marks an important cultural shift.

It’s what the Oscars and really all of mainstream Hollywood has to learn from the sketch, which may have premiered on TV but is likely to be seen by exponentially more viewers on YouTube, just as the “Damon” one did. After the lowest-rated Oscar in history, you have to ask yourself why many of the stars mentioned above took the time appear in this bizarre, racy sketch but didn’t show up on the red carpet (the only one I remember seeing in both was Ford, who really needs to lose the earring). For A-listers whose every public appearance is quite calculated, that tells you plenty about what is more culturally relevant right now: viral video or stuffy award shows.

Yes, a viral video just pwned the Oscars. Apparently, YouTube views can pull more stars than Academy Awards.
