]]> Caponocca.com is a tee-shirt company that was recently launched and it utilizes a unique business model. The website invites designers and artists to submit original artwork and then helps those designers and artists make money. Not only do they receive royalty payments of 10% for each sale of tee-shirts using their design, they can win a $500 cash prize for having their design featured on the home page of the website.

Using many different aspects of Web 2.0 technology, Caponocca.com allows users to rate designs, submit comments and talk to other users.

“What we are really building is a strong community where people can come together and decide for themselves what t-shirts and fashions are most appealing to them,” said Caponocca CEO and founder, Norvell Thomas. “Anyone can go to a department store and purchase a regular t-shirt, but these are special because they are designed by everyday people like you and me!”

The Los Angeles based startup says that Caponocca is a combination of Italian words that is meant to translate to knucklehead.

Said Thomas: “To us, knucklehead is sort of a badge of honor. We like having the freedom to help other artists and designers get their creativity out to the rest of the world.”
