Nikki Reed & Paul McDonald Engaged

According to PEOPLE.com, Twilight Saga actress, Nikki Reed (23) and American Idol alum Paul McDonald (26) are now engaged.

Nikki flashed her ring on the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards and told the E!, “He’s the one.”

The couple met in March and are now busy house hunting.

And for all you guys who hoped the Twilight movies would somehow end soon, the hype on the newest film, Breaking Dawn, is just getting started. The trailer was shown at the awards show and is now all over the internet. This is the final entry in the Twilight Saga but it will be split into two parts.

The movie’s first part is set to release on November 18, 2011 with the second part on November 16, 2012.

Tim Tebow’s Idol Connection

Tim Tebow cannot stay out of the headlines these days. If he isn’t making Super Bowl commercials that have kept people guessing, or changing his throwing motion, he’s hanging out with (or dating?) American Idol contestants. Yardbarker’s Outside the Boxscore has a picture of Tebow and Idol contestant Janell Wheeler looking very cozy. Wheeler made it to Idol’s coveted Top 24, but then got the boot last night.

Outside the Boxscore says they are just pals, although he does have his arm wrapped around her pretty tightly. But pictures can be deceiving. One thing is sure, if Tebow’s publicity quotient doesn’t go down in the next week or so, I’m going to move him up to Brett Favre status in terms of players I don’t want to hear anymore about. Just saying.

Ellen to Make “American Idol” Debut Tonight

In a season filled with controversy, Ellen DeGeneres will be making her debut as the new judge on American Idol. After Paula Abdul quit, it was a scramble to find someone to fill her seat and considering the fact that Ellen is such a huge fan of the show, I thought it was a good choice.

Of course, there’s been all kinds of drama and there have been reports that Ellen is already clashing with fellow judge, Simon Cowell. With viewership down, I’m sure they are hoping she can bring back the ratings and a feud with Simon would definitely help that.

Paula Abdul Quits “American Idol”

Paula Abdul used Twitter to shock fans of the television show, American Idol, when she wrote several messages explaining that she has chosen to abandon her judging duties.

In the first message, she wrote that she has “decided not to return to #IDOL” and then goes on to say that she will “miss nurturing all the new talent” as well as being “part of a show that [she] helped from day 1 become an international phenomenon.”

She thanked her fans for their “undying support and enormous love.”

I’ve got to confess – I’m completely shocked and more than a little bit disappointed. I think that contestants really liked Paula and I’m sure they will miss her. I know that viewers enjoyed seeing how crazy she can get and they also loved the chemistry between Paula and her fellow judge, Simon Cowell.

I know that Paula felt like she deserved more money but maybe the producers deliberately low-balled her since they renewed Kara DioGuardi’s contract and wanted to force Paula into quitting. I know they said that she could stay on the show for “however long it lasts” but it doesn’t seem like they wanted her enough to beg her to stay.

Predicting Online Buzz from Offline Buzz

One of the best ways to get online traffic is to be aware of the offline buzz happening around you. In my opinion, it is like 99% accurate that any offline buzz will also be an online buzz. People will search about it on the net.

Recently I was watching news (I think it was CNN) and they were featuring this giant squid. Now, the term “giant squid” is at number 7 at Yahoo Buzz Index.

Same thing with “American Idol” or any entertainment buzzz. As things get exciting there, so as the amount of searches done on the internet. Just imagine if you can capture some of these traffic.

So be aware of what’s happening offline and you could capitalize those offline buzz in our online world.
