“We are grateful to our customers worldwide for making this the best holiday ever for Kindle,” said Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com founder and CEO. “And in a huge milestone for independent publishing, we’d also like to congratulate Darcie Chan, the author of The Mill River Recluse, and Chris Culver, the author of The Abbey, for writing two of the best-selling Kindle books of the year.”

The top three Kindle books sold this holiday shopping season (Black Friday to Christmas Day) were The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins and The Litigators by John Grisham.

If you missed all of the insanity that was Black Friday, you still have a chance to get some amazing deals on games at Amazon.com with Cyber Monday – a day known for slashed prices when you buy online goodies on the cheap.

The way Amazon does Cyber Monday is they release deals throughout the day and there are only so many of the discounted items offered. You can see what I’m talking about below:

Tekken 6 Limited Edition Fight Stick Bundle for the PS3 is still around for 60% off [!!!] and at the time of me taking that screenshot, you have four hours to grab your bundle.

If you scroll through the deals, you’ll see stuff that hasn’t been revealed yet along with how long you have until you can see what Amazon is teasing you with.

The thing that’s so brilliant about the way Amazon structures its deals is that it’s almost like an auction. You don’t want to miss the great deals that are available to you right now but you also feel compelled to keep checking back to see what else they’re going to reveal.

Well played, Amazon, well played.

If you’re still trying to get some great deals on the games that are on your Christmas lists, Amazon might be just the place to check out today.

Happy hunting.

Amazon has lowered the price of its popular ebook reader by $60. The latest generation of the Kindle, dubbed by fans “Kindle 2,” has been priced at $359 since its launch, but today Amazon has announced a drop to $299.

The Kindle has been a hit with readers since its first generation release, but the newest version upped the ante by reducing the device’s thickness while greatly improving its capabilities. The main hurdle standing in most readers’ way is that hefty pricetag. It can hold 1,500 books in the palm of your hand, download new ones in less than 60 seconds, and weighs less than a mass market paperback book… but who can afford such a costly gadget in today’s economy?

The lower price should help convince some to take the plunge, but I don’t see Amazon achieving the kind of market penetration they’re hoping for with Kindle until its manufacturing costs drop enough to allow it to come closer to the $100 mark.

SO many cool things were introduced [PSPgo!!! $249.99 and Agent from Rockstar exclusive to PS3] and lots of cool videos were shown [Final Fantasy 14 Online *gasp* and Uncharted 2]. Also, demos were played [Assassin's Creed 2] and there was the announcement that 50 PSone games are coming to the PSN [Playstation Network and did you know that you can still buy a PSone on Amazon.com? Who knew?!]

All in all, it was a great press conference and I have obviously not listed each and every cool thing that was talked about today. If you’re interested in what I had to say on Twitter while watching the press conference then click on all of this for a link.

I’m REALLY looking forward to seeing what Sony is going to bring to the table this year.

The Eee PC is just that. Asus came out with the first version of the Eee in 2007. From there, it was a major hit. They have gone through a few different models and versions but they’ve all stayed similar in many respects. Today, an Eee 4G with Linux (and a built in web cam) will run only $396 (and soon to be lower) on Amazon.com and that includes a 4GB solid-state hard drive, wifi, 512MB of ram and more.

So why is a sub-400 dollar laptop important? Well, besides saving you over $1700 (off the Voodoo), it can also accomplish most of the important things that people need to do. For me, I can telnet, SSH, write, read and reply all from the comfort of that tiny computer. And now, with Windows on it, I can even stream video, install Microsoft Office and communicate with the tools that I’ve always used on my main computers. This means productivity goes up, time-to-production goes down and my happiness is through the roof.

I leave you with this advice… Take a look at what you do with your PC and decide what’s important to you. Spending $2100 on a sleek, slim, 13″ computer or only $400 on a machine that is only 7″ and does everything you need.
