“Dear John” Wins Box Office

Somebody had to dethrone Avatar eventually and I guess it’s not surprising that it’s the sappy film, Dear John, despite the fact that it got a palsy 29% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The film stars Amanda Seyfriend and Channing Tatum in an adaptation of the romantic Nicolas Sparks novel, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Screen Gems

In the movie, idealistic college girl, Savannah Curtis (Seyfried), “was on spring break when she first met John Tyree (Tatum) while he was home on temporary leave. For the smitten soldier, it was practically love at first sight.”

Over the next seven years, Savannah sends John love letters and, although they keep him going when each deployment seems more dangerous than the last, they “ultimately yield consequences that neither the brave soldier nor his one true love could have ever foreseen.”

“Jennifer’s Body” on DVD and Blu-ray

Jennifer’s Body is now out on DVD and Blu-ray so if you’re a Megan Fox fan, you might be interested in seeing it. Otherwise, I’ve heard that this movie is pretty much a big disappointment, especially if you are a lover of the horror genre.

Twentieth Century Fox

Since Fox has some really unproven acting skills, the emphasis here is on how hot she can look in a variety of settings and in different outfits. It’s unfortunate since her co-star, Amanda Seyfried, is actually pretty talented and I’ve heard that she’s the best thing about this campy flick.

Of course, Fox’s character, Jennifer, is the hottest chick in school and she’s a major jerk but then she becomes downright evil. She definitely makes all those high school boys pay for wanting a piece of her. Her best friend, Needy (Seyfriend), realizes what’s going on and has to find the strength to stop Jennifer before she kills all of the town’s young men.

Was I the only one who thought Amanda Seyfried was the better looking one in Jennifer’s Body? Sure Megan Fox is nothing to sneeze at but there is something really unappealing about someone who is so full of themselves… And so void of talent. Amanda Seyfried is not only beautiful but she is smart and talented. Enjoy!
