]]> The disaster movie, 2012, is being released in theaters today and I think it’s going to do extremely well.  First of all, I don’t think it’s got a lot of competition at the box-office but I also believe that the theory that the world is coming to an end in 2012 is popular enough that people are going to flock to see this movie.

The film stars John Cusack and I don’t know if I’ve ever thought of him as an action movie star but, in a weird way, I can totally see this working.  Everyone likes a smart underdog in these roles so it works.  I am annoyed, at best, by both Amanda Peet and Woody Harrelson so I’m hoping the director chose them for a good reason.

The plot is pretty straightforward.  It’s an “epic adventure about a global cataclysm that brings an end to the world and tells of the heroic struggle of the survivors.”  Here’s the trailer:
