Robinson Cano hit a grand slam in the fifth inning, Russell Martin hit a grand slam in the sixth inning and then Curtis Granderson finished the feat with a grand slam in the eighth inning. When all was said and done, the Yankees were victorious by a final count of 22-9.
After a slow start that saw the A’s take a 7-1 lead, the Yankees exploded. They scored four runs in the fifth inning, four in the sixth, six in the seventh and six in the eighth.
Russell Martin finished the game 5-for-5 with three runs and six RBIs, while Curtis Granderson was 2-for-4 with four runs and five RBIs.
