It’s been a difficult year for Vincent Jackson of the San Diego Chargers. A combination of a contract dispute and legal problems kept him sidelined until Week 12. In his return, Jackson got hurt on the second play. However, against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night, the 27-year-old wide receiver finally was able to put his difficulties behind him.
In San Diego’s 34-7 victory, Jackson had five catches for 112 yards and three touchdowns. The three TDs are a new career-high. Not bad for a player who entered the game with two catches on the season.
Said Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers: “He seems to be in midseason form. I feel like he’s been here for 15 weeks. That’s a credit to the way he practices.”
With the win, the Chargers are now just a half-game behind the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West. Winners of six of their last seven games, the Chargers are finding their rhythm at the right time. Jackson, too, now appears to be in line to become the team’s main receiving threat down the stretch run of the season.
