Video: Stephen Strasburg’s Return a Success

Stephen Strasburg’s return from Tommy John surgery began on Sunday afternoon in Hagerstown, Maryland. That’s where he made his first minor league rehab start after undergoing reconstructive elbow surgery.

In the Class A game, Stephen Strasburg looked about as good as the Washington National could have hoped. His location was superb. His velocity was in the upper 90s. He looked to be in really good shape. All told, Stephen Strasburg appeared to be the Stephen Strasburg of old.

Even though he pitched less than two innings, he struck out four batters. Of his 31 pitches, only six were balls.

Stephen Strasburg hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since August 21st when he suffered the major elbow injury. Although he still has a long road to recovery, the Nationals are hoping that Stephen Strasburg will return to the big leagues in September.
