There is a new all-time leader in three-pointers made in NBA history. Ray Allen passed Reggie Miller on Thursday night. Fittingly, Reggie Miller was calling the game for TNT so Ray Allen was able to give him a hug as Reggie Miller passed the torch. Ray Allen now has 2,562 three-pointers in his NBA career.
As you can see in the video below, it was an emotional moment for everyone involved. The Boston Celtics crowd went crazy. The players on the court celebrated. Ray Allen acted like he won a championship. And then there was the hug between Ray Allen and Reggie Miller.
The 35-year-old shooting guard is showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, he’s enjoying one of his best seasons of his career this year. In 35.9 minutes per contest, he’s averaging 17.5 points per game on 50.5% shooting from the field and 45.9% shooting from beyond the three-point stripe. Both his field goal percentage and three-point percentage are career-highs.
