Earlier this year, Kevin Durant called Jimmer Fredette the best scorer on the planet. Coming from perhaps the best scorer in the NBA, that’s quite a compliment. On Friday, Jimmer Fredette helped prove Kevin Durant’s point. Against the New Mexico Lobos, the sweet shooting guard led the BYU Cougars to a 87-76 victory with 52 points. “Special players can have special evenings like this — especially in March,” said Steve Alford, head coach of the Lobos. “He had one of them. He took great shots; he got into rhythm.”
Recently, New Mexico has had the upper hand in the rivalry. Jimmer Fredette wasn’t going to let that continue. His 52 points came on 22-for-37 shooting. He also drained seven three-pointers while only turning the ball over twice.
BYU, currently ranked 8th in the nation, has a chance to make a lot of noise in March Madness. No team wants to face Jimmer Fredette and his unbelievable ability to score a basketball.
