Texas appeared headed to the Sweet 16. Then Derrick Williams, who had struggled the whole game, lifted Arizona to victory with a three-point play. Trailing 69-67 with less than ten seconds remaining, Derrick Williams hit an acrobatic shot as he was fouled. His free throw gave Arizona a one-point lead. After a defensive stop at the end, Arizona advanced to the Sweet 16.

Derrick Williams’ three-point play was even more impressive considering he had struggled all game. Coming into the game, he was averaging 19.2 points on 61.3% shooting from the field and 61% shooting from three-point land. Against Texas, Derrick Williams had 17 points but shot only 4-for-15 from the field, missed all three of his three-pointers and turned the ball over four times. However, when it counted, Derrick Williams came up clutch.
In the Sweet 16, Derrick Williams and Arizona will take on Duke. With the game being playing in California, Arizona should have homecourt advantage.
