Video: Antonio McDyess Tip Beats Lakers

The San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Lakers battled to the final buzzer. That’s when Antonio McDyess tipped in a Tim Duncan miss to down the Lakers. McDyess’ tip gave the Spurs an 89-88 win and improved San Antonio’s record to 41-8 — the best mark in the NBA. The Lakers dropped to 34-16, which has Los Angeles as the third seed in the Western Conference.

While the game as a whole wasn’t aesthetically pleasing, the ending was fun to watch. With the Spurs up by four with a minute to go, Lamar Odom drained a three-pointer to make it 87-86. After Richard Jefferson missed a jumper, Pau Gasol got fouled and hit two free throws to give the Lakers the lead.

On the final possession, the Spurs got four great looks at the basket. First, Manu Ginobili missed a wide open three-pointer. Then, Tony Parker missed an open tear drop in the lane. After Duncan missed a leaner, McDyess was able to get a hand on the ball with .2 seconds remaining to give San Antonio the win.

Tony Parker led the way for San Antonio with 21 points. Jefferson was 7-for-12 for 18 points, while Ginobili had 14 points, eight assists and five rebounds.

Here’s the Antonio McDyess video of his tip in to beat the Lakers:
