Updated BCS Standings: Stanford Moves Up

In the updated BCS standings, the Stanford Cardinal have moved up to No. 4. Boise State, like usual, got screwed and dropped a spot to No. 5, while the top three of LSU, Alabama and Oklahoma State remained the same.

Stanford jumped from No. 6 after beating USC in triple overtime. However, Stanford will need some help to move into the national championship picture. Right now, it appears that the winner of next week’s game between LSU and Alabama will take on Oklahoma State in the national championship — if everything plays out like it should.

Then again, this is college football we are talking about. If there are a couple of upsets, even a team like Boise State could enter the mix. Since the computers don’t like their week schedule, it’s very hard for Boise State to remain elite in the BCS system throughout the season. But if Oklahoma State and Stanford both lose at some point, that’s when Boise State has a prayer.

Rounding out the BCS top ten are Oklahoma at 6, Arkansas at 7, Oregon and 8, South Carolina at 9 and Nebraska at 10.
