Carmelo Anthony wants to go to a big market. The Los Angeles Lakers are interested in making a trade in an attempt to spark their sputtering squad. It sounds like a match, doesn’t it? And now, according to multiple online reports, there is a possibility that Carmelo Anthony gets traded to the Lakers in a trade that involves Andrew Bynum, L.A.’s young, talented but oft-injured center.
While the Carmelo Anthony to the Lakers trade talks are in their early stages, the trade actually makes a lot of sense for both sides. If the Lakers want to win their third straight NBA championship, they need a spark. Carmelo Anthony definitely qualifies as a spark. The Denver Nuggets, on the other hand, want quality return on any trade involving their best player … and Andrew Bynum has superstar potential.
The two main questions regarding to the Carmelo Anthony Lakers trade are: 1) Would Carmelo Anthony sign an extension with the Lakers. 2) Are the Nuggets scared about Andrew Bynum’s injury history.
Personally, I think Carmelo Anthony would sign an extension with the Lakers. What attracts him to New York would probably also attract him to Los Angeles. As far as Andrew Bynum is concerned, I think he’s worth risk. At only 23, Andrew Bynum has showed enough potential to possibly become the type of player a team can be built around.
