Don’t call it an excuse for the early exit by the New England Patriots but Tom Brady underwent foot surgery on Thursday. The procedure, which inserted a screw into his foot in hopes of preventing a stress fracture, will reportedly have the Patriots superstar quarterback in a walking boot for about a month and a half. The good news for Brady and the Patriots is that he’s expected to be ready for the start of training camp.
It’s not clear how long Tom Brady had the foot injury. It’s also not clear how much the foot injury affected his play during New England’s loss against the New York Jets last weekend. The Patriots went into the game as the big favorites but lost due to unexpected poor play — from Brady included.
The surgery will obviously force Brady out of the Pro Bowl. Matt Cassel of the Kansas City Chiefs has already been named as Brady’s replacement.
During the regular season, Brady was amazing. He passed for 3,900 yards along with 36 touchdowns and only four interceptions.
