Texas Rangers Win Yu Darvish Bidding

Yu Darvish is the most sought after pitcher on the free agent market this offseason. The native of Japan hasn’t pitched in the MLB but he already has front offices drooling. After posting a $51.7 million bid, the Texas Rangers now have a chance to sign him.

If Yu Darvish signs, his team in Japan — the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters — will get $51.7 million. If the Rangers and the pitcher can’t agree to a contract, the Fighters will be left high and dry.

However, everyone expects Yu Darvish to sign with the Rangers. How much will it cost to sign Yu Darvish? Experts expect his deal to be worth around $75 million over five years. If that happens, the Rangers will spend more than $125 million on Yu Darvish.
