Coming into the season, the Portland Trail Blazers were viewed as a potential sleeper in the race to win the championship of the Western Conference. The Utah Jazz, on the other hand, supposedly didn’t have a chance to make the playoffs. Things done changed.
On Monday, the Jazz beat the Blazers 93-89 and now have a one-game lead over Portland in the West. The Jazz were led by Paul Millsap’s 19 points and 15 rebounds. CJ Miles scored 15 points off the bench for Utah.
LaMarcus Aldridge scored 25 points for the Blazers but no other starter reached double-digits. And perhaps the worst news of the night was that Nic Batum’s knee buckled late in the game.
Going forward, it’ll be interesting to see if the Jazz, who are now 12-7, can keep it up.
