Steve Fisher Gets Extension at San Diego State

Steve Fisher has turned San Diego State into a basketball school. On Sunday night, the school rewarded their head coach by giving him a four-year contract extension. The new contract will have Steve Fisher working San Diego State’s sidelines until he is 70 years old.

Last season, Steve Fisher and San Diego State went 34-3. Their best player was Kawhi Leonard, who was drafted in the first round by the San Antonio Spurs. During March Madness. San Diego State made it to the Sweet 16 before falling to UConn — the eventual champions.

Steve Fisher became famous overnight by coaching Michigan to the 1989 national championship. He was also the coach of Michigan’s famous Fab Five squad. After being fired by the Wolverines in 1997, he was hired by San Diego State in 1999 and has coached there ever since. Now you can add four more years thanks to this new contract extension.
