Spurs Lose Fifth Straight

Just a week ago, it appeared that the San Antonio Spurs were destined to finish with the best record in the NBA. But on Thursday night against the Boston Celtics, the Spurs lost their fifth straight game. With Rajon Rondo leading the way, the Celtics took home one of their best wins of the season in a game that featured two struggling title contenders.

For the Spurs, this was the first time in the Tim Duncan Era that San Antonio has lost five straight. At 57-18, the Spurs are only two and a half games ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls for the best record in the NBA.

Against the Spurs, Rondo finished with 22 points, 14 assists and five rebounds. Amazingly, the Celtics point guard finished the game without a turnover. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett had 21 points and 20 points, respectively.

The Celtics, now 52-22, are two games behind the Bulls and Lakers.
