Ron Washington Gets Extension

A lot of critics blamed Ron Washington for the Texas Rangers not winning the 2011 World Series. If you ask me, that’s totally unfair. Washington has guided the Rangers to two recent World Series and has done so by allowing his teams to peak at the right time.

The Rangers seem to agree that Washington is not the problem and have decided to give him a two-year extension. He will now be the manager in Alrington through the 2014 season.

“He’s a teacher and a motivator and he’s been a key guy the whole way through,” said Rangers GM Jon Daniels. “He speaks to what we’re about. He’s the perfect guy to run our club.”

If the Rangers win 80 games next season, Washington will become the team’s all-time winningest manager. Hopefully he’ll be able to gain some respect along the way.
