Bob Barry has died. For more than 30 years, he was the Oklahoma Sooners football radio voice. For another 17 years, he worked at Oklahoma State. However, it was his time with the Sooners that made Bob Barry one of the most recognizable voices in all of college football.
“With his contagious enthusiasm, he was one of the best sports broadcast journalists in the entire nation,” said David Boren, the president of Oklahoma University. “He was loved by Oklahomans all across our entire state and will be missed by all of us.”
Bob Barry is remembered as a gentle soul who was always in a good mood.
“He loved life and he loved his job,” said Toby Rowland, the current radio voice for Oklahoma Sooners football. “Even after 50 years of broadcasting he would show up at the stadium like a kid in a candy store.”
