Rangers One Win from the World Series

After a 7-3 victory in Game 4 of the 2011 ALCS, the Texas Rangers are one win away from reaching the World Series for the second year in a row. The Detroit Tigers, on the other had, face the daunting task of winning three straight games to avoid elimination.

In Game 4, the Tigers got on the board first when Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run double in the bottom of the third inning. The Rangers were able to take the lead in the sixth inning by putting up three runs. To tie the game, Brandon Inge hit a solo shot in the seventh inning.

The game stayed tied until the top of the 11th. That’s when Mike Napoli’s single gave the Rangers a one-run lead. Nelson Cruz these busted it wide open with a three-run homer and the Rangers cruised to a 7-3 victory.

On Thursday, the Tigers send 2011 Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander to the mound in an attempt to save their season. CJ Wilson takes the Hill for the Rangers in Game 5.
