Plaxico Burress was one of the biggest names on the free agent market after getting out of prison. After flirting with a number of teams, Burress decided to sign with the New York Jets. So far, the Jets haven’t seen much of him because the wide receiver has been sidelined with an ankle injury.
On Sunday, Burress missed his third straight day of practice. He originally sprained his left ankle during Wednesday’s practice. The good news is that while he’s not able to practice, Burress is healthy enough to partake in individual drills. That fact points to him being able to return relatively soon.
Rex Ryan, head coach of the Jets, didn’t seem too upset: “I want to proceed really cautiously here. I don’t want to do too much with him. But he’s moving around good.”
Burress’ injury will allow Derrick Mason to receive more reps. Mason was signed this week after spending the last six seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.
