Pictures: Salvatore Giunta – Medal of Honor Super Bowl Hero

With the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers fighting for a Super Bowl championship, children around the country are rooting for their football heroes to win it all. However, those football heroes can’t hold a candle to the biggest hero on the field in Dallas on Super Bowl Sunday. Salvatore Giunta is a true hero.

The NFL honored Salvatore Giunta during the Super Bowl … and for good reason. Salvatore Giunta received the Medal of Honor for saving the lives of his teammates while serving in the War in Afghanistan. He’s the first living soldier to receive the Medal of Honor since Vietnam.

The 25-year-old from Iowa was given the Medal of Honor by Barack Obama on September 10th, 2010. Here are pictures of Salvatore Giunta, the Medal of Honor recipient who was featured at the Super Bowl:
