Pictures: Al Davis Remembered – Raiders Owner Dead

Al Davis has died. The Oakland Raiders owner, who was one of the most influential people in the history of football, was 82 years old. So far the Raiders haven’t announced the cause of death, however the team says they will give an update later in the day.

Davis has always been controversial — mostly due to the fact that he was unafraid. He did whatever it took to make the Raiders winners. He didn’t care about much else.

Davis’ time with the Raiders began in 1963. That year, he was the coach and GM and was named the AFL’s best coach. His many roles in football included coach, GM, scout, assistant coach, team owner and even AFL commissioner.

There’s no doubt that Davis will be missed. His passion for football will leave a void that can’t be filled.

    What a loss to profesional sports! I`ve been a loyal fan of the Oakland Raiders since 1984. I `m real sorry that I didn`t have and oppertunity to meet one of the greatest all time ledgins of professional sports. His pasion for football will continue to resenate for decades to come. R I P AL.
