The PC police are out in full force after the picture below surface. The Raffi Torres in blackface picture is definitely controversial. If you can’t tell, Raffi Torres in black was Jay-Z for Halloween.
Personally, I think it was a great Halloween costume. Simple yet effective. Jay-Z is a celebrity and anyone who wants to dress up as Jay-Z should be allowed to do so — even if blackface is required.
If we start limiting Halloween costumes based on race or skin color, that’d be a slippery slope that none of us want to travel. Let’s just keep Halloween fun and let people be what they want to be for that one day of the year.

It’s not blackface, just black makeup. When “White Chicks” came out, did we start calling the awful makeup whiteface? Why is it that making your skin significantly darker is offensive, when geisha whiten their faces as a sign of beauty (and no one is offended by this). If a dark-skinned person temporarily lightened his skin for a fun event, it wouldn’t bother anyone. I have to agree that this article simply shows a fun costume. I don’t even know why anyone decided to bring up “blackface” or controversy.
