Pennington Named Dolphins Starter

The Chad Henne experiment has ended in Miami (for now) as veteran Chad Pennington was named the team’s starting quarterback.

“They both have strengths, and certainly weaknesses,” Dolphins coach Tony Sparano said. “At this particular time, my decision is Chad Pennington’s strengths might be suited a little bit more for where we need to be.”

Last year, in his second NFL season, Henne threw for 2,878 yards and many thought he was the future in Miami. He was on pace for 3,800 yards this year, but the Dolphins offense has only scored 11 touchdowns on the season, which ties for second-worst in the NFL.

Henne may be back in the starting lineup if Miami continues to be unproductive. For now, the Dolphins quarterback situation will be evaluated week-to-week.
