Ozzie Guillen is managing his last game on Monday for the Chicago White Sox, according to various online reports. Once separated from the White Sox, Guillen is expected to become the manager of the Florida Marlins. Who will coach the White Sox in their final two regular seasons game is not known at this point.
Guillen and the White Sox won a World Series in 2005. However, since then, there has never been a Chicago squad that could put it all together. This year, the White Sox disappointed once again; they’re currently 77-82 and sit 15 games behind the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central.
The Marlins snagging Guillen makes a lot of sense. Next season, the Marlins are moving into a new stadium and they are looking to build buzz. Guillen’s loud mouth and managing skills will undoubtedly draw attention.
As for the White Sox, a change isn’t the worst thing that can happen. They need to rebuild and Guillen has clashed with others within the organization at times.
