College football’s worst kept secret will soon become official: Urban Meyer will be the next coach at Ohio State. According to sources, Meyer will sign a $40 million deal to take over at a school that saw Jim Tressel get fired earlier in the year due to a tattoo parlor controversy.
Ohio State, even though they are paying top dollar, must be thrilled. Meyer has proven to be one of the best coaches in all of football. His last stop, at Florida, was extremely successful. He had previously coached at Utah and Bowling Green.
Meyer has been out of the game for a year after quitting to focus on his health and his family. Apparently, those concerns will no longer stop him from doing the thing he does best: coach college football teams to championships.
Ohio State, welcome back.
