Now that we are finished with the 2011 NBA All-Star Game, it’s time to get back to business. Who are the best teams in the NBA? That’s the question we will answer below. There are currently six teams with a legit chance to win the 2011 NBA championship. Here is our current power rankings in reverse order:
6. Chicago Bulls
Led by soon-to-be MVP Derrick Rose, the Bulls are a dangerous bunch who will be a tough out in the playoffs.
5. Dallas Mavericks
When healthy, these Mavs have won as much as any team in the NBA.
4. Miami Heat
The Heat still have the most talent. The only question is whether they’ll have the chemistry this season to win it all.

3. San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs have the best record in basketball. Can they keep it up?
2. Boston Celtics
If they stay healthy, the Celtics will make it to the Finals.
1. Los Angeles Lakers
Don’t be confused. The defending champs can turn it on and still beat any team in the NBA.

Spurs at No. 3-?!! Lakers at No. 1–even though they’ve lost to all the contender teams thus far this season?!!! Don’t live in the past, please: base your rankings on what’s going on RIGHT NOW, alright? “Oh, Lakers won last year in the playoffs, so they’re still the best right now, even though they can’t seem to beat the top contenders anymore.” What kind of logic is that? Well, you don’t have to be Spock to know that your rankings are illogical, and shouldn’t be posted for the whole world to see…It just shows a crass and infantile mind at work–one that favors the most popular over the current best.
