On Thursday, NBA players will be back playing in NBA arenas and practice facilities — just like the good ol’ days. Although the new CBA hasn’t been agreed to yet and there is still voting that needs to take place, the NBA decided to lift that ban and allow teams and players to begin working together.
That said, there are a number of limitations. First of all, any planned workouts must be voluntary. And although players are allowed into the facilities, coaches can’t begin working with players yet. Only trainers will be able to meet with players.
NBA teams will also be able to start calling agents on Thursday. Though no deals will be allowed to be completed, it will be the start of NBA free agency.
It is expected that business like usual will begin on Dec. 9. On that day, training camps will open and free agents will be free to sign.
