NBA Basketball Schedule Details

We are starting to get some details of the 66-game NBA season that will take place following the end of the lockout. The season will start on Christmas Day and will run through April 26th. The playoffs will be pushed back and end later than usual.

During the regular season, teams will play conference opponents a total of 48 times. Each team will also play non-conference opponents 18 times. As a result, there’s no way that each NBA team will visit each city. So unlike most years, the schedule will play a real role in deciding which teams will make the postseason.

Although the schedule will be condensed, the teams won’t play a lot of extra games per month. In fact, it will come out to an extra two games a month.

Each team will face at least one back-to-back-to-back stretch, though no team will face more than three such stretches. It’ll be interesting to see whether young teams with fresh legs will benefit the most, or if teams with experience will be able to navigate the NBA schedule more easily.
