With no draft pick in the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft, the Memphis Grizzlies did a lot of waiting around. However, when it was finally their time to pick, the Grizzlies made a lot of noise by rolling the dice on Josh Selby at 49.
Selby is a lottery talent but there are a couple of major red flags. First of all, he refused an MRI on his injured knee. That made teams think he has a major knee injury. Secondly, his character is a major question mark. Many scouts regard him as a bad apple.
That said, if Selby lives up to his potential, he could be a big time steal for the up-and-coming Grizzlies. He’d be yet another talented swingman on a team that is starting to put it all together.
