The defending NBA champions are heating up. On Monday night, they went out on the road and destroyed the Phoenix Suns. However, the Suns did have an excuse: they were without future Hall of Famer Steve Nash.
The Mavs led 96-70 heading into the fourth quarter before cruising to a 122-99 victory. Delonte West led the way with 25 points and six assists. Vince Carter had 21 points, while Shawn Marion chipped in 20 points.
The Suns got 17 points, ten rebounds and four blocked shots from Marcin Gortat. They attempted to replace Nash with a combination of Sebastian Telfair and Ronnie Price but obviously that didn’t work out too well.
The win improved the Mavs to 14-8 on the season, which has the defending champs tied with the Los Angeles Clippers for third place in the Western Conference standings.
