Maurkice Pouncey Injury Update

Maurkice Pouncey had a great rookie season for the Pittsburgh Steelers. A center drafted by the Steelers with the 18th overall selection of the 2010 NFL Draft, he has started every game and was even named to the Pro Bowl. Unfortunately, his rookie season is over. Due to injury, Maurkice Pouncey won’t be able to play in the Super Bowl against the Green Bay Packers.

Pouncey was injured in the first quarter against the New York Jets. He suffered a high ankle sprain and X-rays showed a fracture in the ankle. He was originally hopeful that he’d heal in time for the Super Bowl, however there just isn’t enough time.

In Pouncey’s place, Doug Legursky will start at center for the Steelers in the Super Bowl. Legursky played well against the Jets and the Steelers have confidence in him.
