Matt Holliday to Miss Game 7

Matt Holliday can’t be happy right now. The superstar for the St. Louis Cardinals will miss Game 7 of the World Series due to a wrist injury. Instead of Holliday, the Cardinals will turn to Allen Craig in left field.

Usually being without Holliday would be a huge loss but he’s been struggling with injuries throughout the playoffs and has struggled recently. In the World Series, he’s just 3-for-19 with no RBIs.

Craig, on the other hand, is 4-for-15 and each of his four hits has driven in a run. At this point, he’s simply the better player.

Holliday was actually replaced on the roster so he can’t even pinch hit. If the Cardinals are going to win the 2011 World Series championship, they are going to have to do it without arguably their second best player.
