Matt Hasselbeck is an unrestricted free agent and it’s now being reported that he won’t re-sign with the Seattle Seahawks. Hasselbeck has been the starting quarterback for the Seahawks since the 2002 season. He will now move on to a new team in free agency.
Last season, Hasselbeck struggled. He had only 12 touchdown passes in 14 games to go along with 17 interceptions and a QB rating of 73.2. The Seahawks apparently decided to go younger at QB and let the 35-year-old leave.
Where will Matt Hasselbeck sign in free agency?
It’s likely a three-horse race. The Tennessee Titans, San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings all need a starting quarterback. Though Hasselbeck has struggled in recent years, he’s an experienced leader who has a history of winning. For a young team looking to move up the standings, signing Hasselbeck makes a lot of sense.
