The Kansas twins, Markieff Morris and Marcus Morris, have never been apart. Heading into the latest college basketball season, Marcus was considered the better prospect than Markieff. However, in the 2011 NBA Draft, there was a bit of a surprise — Markieff got selected first.
The Phoenix Suns, with the 13th overall selection, drafted Markieff Morris. They loved his ability to defend, rebound and knock down outside jumpers. While perhaps not as talented as Marcus, he fits in well with the Suns.
That said, the Suns probably could have done more with their lottery pick. Markieff Morris is a solid player but he doesn’t have much potential. Additionally, the Suns have so many bigs that it’s difficult to imagine where the forward out of Kansas will get minutes next season.
