Fair Grounds Recap – Feb 19th

Fast main track and firm turf course during the 2nd Starlight Racing Program. Dirt oval favored early-pressing types. Lone turf sprint was nabbed by a prominent throughout runner, and the single turf route was taken by a patient type.

John Jacinto and Shane Sellers both booted home a pair.

Mad Flatter (5^th race) got loose in the optional claiming feature and held off my top Fundy by a game neck. Country Flavor rallied from last to land the show in a race that did not set up for him.

On the analysis front, I got home best bet top Sarava Man ($3.40). I also tabbed the 4^th race exacta ($14.60), and Pick 3 (race 2-4, $312.80).

Friesan Fire goes for two straight local stakes tallies in Saturday's Grade 3 Mineshaft Handicap.

Fair Grounds Preview – Feb 20th

A 13-race program will be run on Saturday at the Fair Grounds. Pick six carryover of $517. Mostly sunny skies are expected with a high temperature of 65.

Saturday is Louisiana Derby Preview Day with a special early first post of 12:10PM central time.

Six stakes races on tap including the Grade 2 Risen Star for 3yo’s traveling a mile and a sixteenth on the main track. Lecomte winner Ron The Greek figures to vie for favoritism with Florida shipper Drosselmeyer. This is my Horse Racing Nation free selection of the day.
