July 31st Louisiana Downs Recap

Fast and off the turf on Friday. Early-pressing types dominated.

Leading rider Don Simington brought home five winners on the day.

My longshot play of the day Getupbillygetup took action and failed to fire despite a decent stalking trip.

My best bet Final Bel got a decent pace to chase, but the speed did not back up and she checked in 4th to complete the superfecta.

Got a couple more tops home, and my 2nd and 3rd choices won five races. I am in a nice steady groove but can feel a hot streak coming.

August 1st Preview: Louisiana Cup Day

Saturday’s 10-race Louisiana Cup Day card features eight state bred stakes races worth a total of $750k. We have had plenty of rain recently, so hopefully the turf stakes events will remain on the weeds.

Master Link (2nd race) is my best bet on the card. She earned strong pace figs last time and can down Asmussen fav Sax Appeal.

Takin’ The Bullet (6th race) is my longshot play of the day. He ran a big race on the weeds last time and could be sitting on a surface switching smasher under the leading rider.
