Lisa Leslie Is Retiring From The WNBA

Now that Candace Parker is established as the next franchise player for the L.A. Sparks, Lisa Leslie can pass over the torch with peace of mind.

At the end of the 2009 WNBA season, Leslie plans to retire after 12 years as a professional women’s basketball player. Throughout her storied career, she won two championships with the L.A. Sparks.

Leslie, 36, was instrumental in the development and appeal of the WNBA becoming the first woman to ever dunk a basketball in a professional game.

How fitting is it that Candace Parker became the second?
