Lakers Sprint Past Hornets in Game 5

In the first quarter of Game 5, the New Orleans Hornets appeared to be on their way to a stunning upset of the two-time reigning NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers. However, things quickly changed in the second quarter and the Lakers grabbed control. By the end of the game, Los Angeles had an easy 106-90 victory over the Hornets. The Lakers now lead the series 3-2.

Kobe Bryant led the way for the Lakers with 19 points. His most memorable points came when Kobe Bryant dunked on Emeka Okafor. Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol combined for 34 points, 18 rebounds, six assists and five blocks.

Chris Paul was really good once again … but it wasn’t enough for New Orleans. He had 20 points and 12 assists. In the series, he’s now averaging 24.4 points and 11.6 assists while shooting 55.9% from the field and 47.1% from three-point land.

Game 6 will be in New Orleans. A Lakers win would end the series. But if we’ve learned anything so far through five games, it’s that these Hornets will put up a heck of a fight.
