July 12th Louisiana Downs Recap

Both surfaces seemed to play fair.

Hat trick for leading rider Don Simington. Colby Hernandez booted home a pair.

2nd timer Berry Valid ran a winning race again, but he settled for a clear place finish behind a wire job firster.

Ashlee’s Mom did not get much pace help in the grassy 2nd. She was along for the show and can get the job done with honest splits.

Chief Gone West ran too good to lose in the 8th. He stalked a fast pace and was run down by late runner Pertinent.

Got four more tops home including best bet Seeking Miss Shelley ($6.80) in the turf sprint finale.

Thursday’s 9-race card includes four grass races. Pick 6 was hit on Sunday.

My best bet to kick off the race week is Farasino (race 8). She stretches back out following a pair of place finishes here. 6-time course and distance winner has won her last three starts around two turns.
