Kobe Bryant was atop another list of jersey sales, only this one didn’t originate in the U.S.
Try Beijing. Bryant has the top-selling jersey in China so far this season, significantly better than Houston Rockets center Yao Ming, according to sales figures to be released today by the NBA.
This piece of news comes to a surprise to me since I always assumed Yao Ming had the top jersey sales in China. But it’s understandable that it used to be T-Mac since he’s Yao’s team mate with the Houston Rockets. The fact that Kobe is now the top seller while Yao Ming is not even close to the top at number 6 is quite embarrassing if you ask me. Yao Ming is only getting better as the years pass yet his popularity seems to be getting less as this news of jersey sales suggest. Even at the All Star voting where Yao dominated the past few years since he entered the league, Yao was second fiddle to Lebron James in the All Star votes.
Do you think Yao’s popularity is truly getting smaller or are the other stars just getting more popular?
