Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers has never met a shot he didn’t like. His fearlessness has helped him win five championship rings and has him quickly rising up the NBA all-time scoring leaderboard. Against the Sacramento Kings on Friday night, Kobe Bryant passed Hakeem Olajuwon to move into eighth place. The bucket came in the first quarter on a fast break dunk.
Hakeem Olajuwon, who played the majority of his years with the Houston Rockets, scored 26,946 points in the NBA. Next up for Kobe is Elvin Hayes at 27,313. The only active player with more points than Kobe is his former teammate — Shaquille O’Neal. Currently, O’Neal is fifth with 28,504 points.
Hakeem and Kobe aren’t strangers. In fact, Kobe has worked with Hakeem to better his post moves.
“Hakeem is incredibly smart and for him to take the time and welcome me into his home and show me different things is a tribute to his greatness,” said Kobe.
