Kentucky Beats North Carolina, Final Four Bound

Kentucky is the fourth and final team to qualify for the Final Four. Although the underdog against North Carolina, freshman Brandon Knight led Kentucky with 22 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. With big shots late, Kentucky won by a final score of 76-69. Kentucky will play UConn for the right for a spot in the national championship game.

Kentucky was up by eight points with 5:30 remaining, but Harrison Barnes led an UNC comeback that tied the game at 67-67 with 3:18 left. Brandon Knight then hit a three-pointer. Following a Tyler Zeller tip, DeAndre Liggins hit a three-pointer to give Kentucky a four-point lead with 35 seconds remaining. Kentucky would never look back.

Tyler Zeller had 21 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots for North Carolina. Harrison Barnes chipped in 18 points and six rebounds. But it wasn’t enough to defeat Kentucky on this night.

Joining Kentucky and UConn in the final four will be Cinderellas VCU and Butler.
