Junior Seau Arrested for Domestic Violence, Drives Off a Cliff

Retired NFL player Junior Seau was arrested early Monday morning on suspicion of domestic violence. He was taken into custody in San Diego and booked into the Vista Detention Facility, then later released after posting bail. The alleged assault was on his 25-year-old live-in girlfriend.

The story doesn’t end there, however. Just hours after his release from jail, Seau drove his Cadillac Escalade off a cliff in Carlsbad. Fortunately, the San Diego Chargers legend survived.

TMZ has crash photos of the vehicle, which landed at a bottom of the cliff near the beach. Seau was transported to Scripps La Jolla Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

“Preliminary investigation shows the vehicle left the roadway and traveled over the cliff, landing on the beach below,” Carlsbad police officials said in a prepared statement. “The vehicle was only occupied by the driver, a male who was identified as Junior Seau … Investigation is continuing into how and why the accident occurred.”
